Dataskydd firar 50 år i Sverige

En debatt och diskussion blossar upp, ledd av politikern och folkpartisten Kerstin Anér, och det leder till att Sverige som första land i världen inför en nationell Datalag 1973. Samtidigt inrättas också en myndighet som ska sköta tillsynen av Datalagen och den döps till Datainspektionen (heter numera Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY).

Since its implementation in March 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation has forced the Data Protection Commissions of European countries to impose numerous fines. In the spotlight, we have the GAFAMs (Google, Apple, Facebook, Apple and Microsoft) that have been awarded astronomical sums for violating one or more rules of the GDPR in the European Union.

Consent based marketing: a guarantee of compliance

In a statement released on 4 January 2023 by the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC), which acts on behalf of the European Union, it is announced that a fine of €390 million has been imposed on the Meta Group (Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp). The cause? The failure to comply with the transparency obligations of the GDPR.
